After the girls, the house, the husband and the dog that is! My name is Johanna (Jo) and first and foremost I am mummy to two beautiful girls, Chloe is 6 and Aryah is 2, they are both strong-willed, adventurous little rascals who keep us on our toes and bring so much joy into our house. Best friends one minute then killing each other the next but always fiercely protective of each other with the strongest of sisterly bonds which I hope they always hold on to.
My working background is in retail but just after Aryah was born my husband took an opportunity to start his own business and with him working such long and demanding hours we made the decision for me to stay at home with the girls. When Chloe was little I got back into sewing, starting off with a memory quilt I decided to make out of baby clothes she had grown out of that I couldn't bear to throw away, and this led to the creation of my own small business, Rose Fabric Design, which I have been slowly building up over the last couple of years alongside work.
Staying home with the girls has given me the opportunity, as well as the need, to grow my little business and like everything it has its downsides as well as its positives. I can decide my own schedule which is great for meeting friends for coffee, taking the girls on impromtu walks to the park and for heading off to the coast for the day just because its sunny. It's not so great when I'm up until all hours sewing, or we can't eat at the dining table (because that's currently where I do all of my sewing) but for the most part we manage to maintain a good balance all round. With the prospect of Aryah hopefully getting a place at nursery this coming September I am hoping to grow my business a bit more while the hubby is planning on stepping back a little from his so we'll hopefully all meet somewhere in the middle!
